Designed by Yota Kakuda, the product designer of MUJI, the City Pop Collection is Kakuda’s tribute to “City Pop,” the nostalgic revival of the popular Japanese music scene of the 1970s and 1980s.
 
Using only a few elements, the City Pop Wall Clock combines sharp numbers and lines to create a simple but distinctive clock face. The design is arranged so that the time can be read clearly from certain angles, giving the clock a different appearance depending on where you view it from.
 
The strong contrast of black and white gives the clock a bold presence while maintaining its clean, modern form. It works particularly well in minimalist interiors where a simple graphic element can add character to the space.
