Drops Draw the Existence
When Kanae Tsukamoto, the designer of Drops Draw the Existence Table Clock noticed the shape made in the ground by a falling raindrop, she became aware of it as a gravitational form. Gravity works and can be felt directly, yet it can’t be seen or touched. She created this design as the image of gravity acting incidentally on the form of another object, creating time in a space.
Tension
Bringing out the fundamental factors within the elements of a certain character creates a sense of tension. Tsukamoto used it to indicate the markings of time.
Fireworks
After first developing a shape resembling three-dimensional lace, Tsukamoto eventually settled on a simple form on which one can accurately read time at a glance. It ended up as a gradually increasing solid with a shape resembling a firework going up in the night sky as a point of wit. Handmade.
Made with white Porcelain by Lemnos craftsmen. Designed by Kanaé Tsukamoto. Drops Draw the Existence Clock is part of the JIDA (Japan Industrial Design Association) Design Museum's collection. This is a table clock only.
