Winner of the Good Design Award in 2020, the CARVED Superellipse is a pendulum clock from the Lemnos CARVED series, designed by architect Naoki Terada.
 
The clock body features a “superellipse,” a shape that combines the forms of a circle and a square. A thin stainless steel pendulum, painted red, extends from the clock and swings slowly and silently as time passes.
 
Made from a special mineral-based artificial wood, the clock has a smooth pastel matte white surface that highlights its simple form. The material requires additional processing time, and clean gloves are recommended when handling the clock for the first time.
 
When installing the CARVED Superellipse, the clock should be mounted completely parallel to the wall to ensure proper pendulum movement. Its simple form and quiet movement make it both a functional clock and a distinctive design object.
